Bilbo Baggins by Remainaery Bilbo Baggins by Remainaery
Painting Study,
PS-CS2, approx. 3,5 hours.

I really like how it turned out. And that brings me to the reference-issue.

Amazing work! I love the way you texturize using a few traces in the exact color. I'm painting Bilbo too but I wonder if I can finish it before I die, because I'm working on it since last week and I don't even have the hair and the background.
Good job!

Well, seeing as the reference picture says "This was brough to you by FantasyPlanet" [I'm Czech, so I understand what it says XD], I don't think you'll have any trouble with this...
Good work. I really like your use of textures... :)

I don't think you should worry about the reference issue.... you can't make money off this cause it's fan art, and you're citing your sources to the best of your ability. You're doing more than the average deviant by just showing your reference shot, and I applaud that.
This looks completely fantastic by the way!

Also, ich hätte dabei keine gewissenbisse! :P Wenn du was mit dem photo selbst veranstaltet hättest, dann ja! :)

Toll geworden!

Kommt drauf an.

Naja. Daher.

Danke jedenfalls =)

wow! congrats on being one of the few ppl out there on dA who can convincingly reference something, and have it look right without tiny mistakes. even though this study is a little loose and painterly, all the colors and proportions look correct and are convincing. good use of color for shadow (rather than the typical blues/blacks/browns). this definately feels like a painting than a normal photographic reference study. your use of neutrals and greys are wonderful. the rendering of the face is looking better than good. i'd have to shoot myself if i didn't study this study, too!

The trick is actually to spend the time where it gets noticed. In this case, about 3 hours went into the face, the other 30mins for the rest.
Since people will keep looking at the face most of the time, you can slap together the rest and perfecty get away with it! Nyak nyak nyak!

It works. Trust me.
